This is exactly what I needed to take pictures of my hummingbirds from inside my plateglass windows (the feeders are on the windows). Like others said, the remote must face the front of the camera, but you can work around that. I placed a mirror against some books in front of the camera, and I am able, with no problem at all, to point the remote at the mirror, where it angles it back to the camera and I can take pictures from my couch from the rear of the camera!

I received my remote yesterday and started playing with it immediately. I could not believe how small the remote was and it came with batteries! The feature I like most is the 2-second timer. Since my Rebel XT only has a 10-second timer, this will come in handy. It also has a bulb mode setting which I will most likely use at some point. This is a great Canon product and for the price...it is worth it.

If you are a Photographer and if you are thinking on start shooting some Weddings, I would advise you to read few other articles about becoming a Wedding Photographer, but if you are experienced photographer and you want to start adventuring into shooting Weddings, here are some more detailed list and explanation of what equipment you should look for;

- Buying the Right Equipment - Here I am going to list few of the most important things that you will have to have in order to become a good Wedding Photographer.

1- Digital SLR Camera

You have many choices when you are buying your new camera (Canon, Nikon, Sony, Leica, Olympus and etc). If you have the choice of choosing what brand to buy, I would have to say that most of Top Wedding Photographers prefer CANON over any other brand. Each company develop its own line of products, this means that if you buy a camera body from Canon, you certainly would have to buy your lenses, flashes and etc specific designed to fit Canon cameras. So, you will have to do your homework before you go shopping.

2- Lenses

Ask any good Photographer, and you will have the same answer; "The most important part of the camera is the lens". You can buy a camera with 10 or 20 Megapixel, but at the end, it is the lens on that camera that is going to make the difference, so always buy good lenses.

3- Memory Card

With the technology improving the number of megapixels that each camera can record its data, would be good if you could buy few memory cards with 4GB, 8GB or larger. Don't forget to check how many MB/second the card is capable of writing and reading. I would recommend something between 25 and 30MB/second.

4-Shoe Mount Flash

Buy always the best Flash for your camera. Wedding Ceremonies and Receptions are generally very dark. A good flash is always handy.

5-Battery for the Camera and for the Flash

Needless to say that you need not just the batteries to your camera and flash, but you will also need few spare batteries.

6- Tripod

If you have a very good lens you might be able to take very good and sharp pictures even if the room is a little dark, but I always bring a tripod to my weddings anyway, you never know if you are going to need it or not.

7- Computer and editing System

Because you are doing Digital Photography, it is very important you to have a good and fast computer and a very good editing system. Photoshop is the choice of almost 100% of professional Photographers.

You could also buy some strobes, radio slaves, and many other more advanced equipment, that certainly would help to improve the quality of your work, but I think that for now, you would be ok with just the 7 items from that list.

Remember that you will be responsible for memories of the most important day of somebody's life, so would be wise to you to have backup equipment. You got it right; another camera, lens, memory card, batteries, etc and etc.

First off, I'm a complete amateur, I didn't realize the benefit in an external flash until a couple of weeks ago when i was at a in-door wedding , the professional photographer had a high end flash for her Canon 5D. By chance a few of the photo's i snapped on my XSI were captured with the flash from the pro and those were the best shots in my batch of photos, i was sold. Anyway, after using this flash for the past week, i am very satisfied with the major improvement in the quality of my indoor shots. The good thing is, is that i have no idea what the difference is between this and the Canon version. The canon's looks nicer and it's probably better built. However for the money spent i'm lovin' it, i can take indoor shots that look great, just bounce the shots off the ceiling or walls.
Customer Review: Cheap, but Good enough
I dig it. as a semi-professional this works very well for me...it does look funny on my XTI (its huge in comparison to the camera). The recycle time with the Batteries supplied in this packages is awesome. For the most part once it charges i can shoot continuously. The flash seems bright enough to cover a fair amount of space at ISO 100, so i assume that at higher ISO it will cover a massive area. The diffuser is wonderful(then again its just plastic) Speaking of plastic this whole Flash is plastic and you need to be careful with the hot-shoe connector or you will strip the threads. What can i say, for $100 you cant go wrong with the one.

How Do You Find Photography Jobs?

There are different ways of finding photography jobs, depending on the type of job you are looking for and your experience. You can begin by creating a resume and portfolio of your work. Then you can search on the internet at freelance photography job boards or photography websites and message boards. Get specific into types of photographing you have done and look on the internet for those.

You can go locally and look for internships or local firms or companies that may need photographers. You can get the word out by doing small events such as birthday parties and such. Get your name out as someone who will work these functions. Show friends and family samples of your work and ask them to spread the word. You may even want to participate in a charitable or non-profit event to boost your portfolio.

You can also begin submitting your work to contests and magazines to get yourself known and build your portfolio. Placing or winning in contests and getting published in magazines can help you build clips that you can use for getting bigger and better jobs.

Lastly, you can actually apply to jobs directly. It is best to do this only if you have the proper qualifications for the job. You dont want to set your goals so high that you get let down but there is nothing wrong with going for what you want. Most importantly, get as involved with what you love as possible. Learn as much as you can about photography and what makes good photography. Subscribe to magazines, read books, look at winners of photography contests.
