Canon PowerShot A570IS Digital Camera WaterProof Case

What customers have to say about Dicapac:Kathy from NY - I used the DicaPac case during my last vacation. This thing is really water and sand proof. I used it under the water of the Caribbean deep blue sea and let me tell you the pictures were greats. It was my first time taking underwater photos and a for moment during this vacation I felt like I was Jacques Cousteau... The flexible material allows you to maintain complete control over all your camera's functions. Nothing got inside the pouch. Great product. I will use it again on my next trip to Bermuda.---------------------------------------------Simon from FL - All the DiCAPac is a really great buy. Its super cheap, protects your camera, and gives |ne auilmty ter Wout more do you need?------------------------------------------------Mary from TN : I was scared at first to take it completely underwater but where we were at, it was either leave my camera completely vulnerable to thieves on the beach OR take it with me in the water with the DicaPac. It worked out just fine and kept my precious 850 bone dry. Couldn't believe it. It seems like such a simply concept but it all worked out and just about everyone I met while on our trip all said they wished that had brought something down similar for their camera. Even a couple who bought an "Aquapac" (which I almost got instead) much preferred our DicaPac.I see it as more than just my inexpensive "underwater camera housing". It also protected my cam from the elements during a pretty bad rain storm, walking the beach with all the wind, sea and salt plus a trip on a boat out to sea where we were constantly getting splashed with sea spray. Now at home, we plan on using the DicaPac for an outting down a local river on tubes.

It can be very challenging capturing an image on film or in a digital medium. The lighting has to be just right, and the subject needs to be interesting. When it all comes together, your camera needs to be properly focused to capture the image in all of its beauty. After you have gone to all of the trouble to take a wonderful photograph, you will want to display it for all the world to see. The appropriate photo framing supplies will make all the difference in whether your image is displayed in a classy manner or whether it simply gets passed by by those looking at the images on display.

Lovely photo framing is an art unto itself, and one that photographers sometimes take up in order to display their artwork most effectively. Frames are available ready made or they can be custom built. Ready made frames come in metal or wood moulding, with a pre cut mat board, glass or acrylic glazing and a mount board. Each of these photo framing supplies is also available as separate components, so that if you wish to build your own from scratch in order to achieve a more customized look, you may. You can also replace worn parts from existing frames which you may already own.

Doing a great job of photo framing begins with foam board, which is also called foam core. Foam board is available in acid free varieties, which is wonderful to use if you wish to frame your photographs to archival standards of preservation. Foam core also comes in different widths, so that you can achieve the appropriate depth for the artwork you wish to frame. Thicknesses of foam board can vary from one-eighth of an inch to three-sixteenths of an inch in width, and come in black or white.

When framing artwork the mat that you select is quite an important consideration. You will find that pre cut mat board and custom mat board are available. For many framing applications, the pre cut board is perfectly acceptable, and tends to be less expensive than custom products. However, if you have a photograph or other piece of artwork that is uniquely sized, then a custom mat board will be your best choice. When thinking about the mat you wish to use, you will also want to remember that the mat may need to cover photo corners that are used to attach the artwork to the mountboard. This means that you will need a mat wide enough to cover the corners, yet an appropriate width so as not to cut off too much of the image from view. Photo framing online stores can assist in the selection of each framing component, so that your prints will look wonderful.

More and more people are coming to realize that selling digital photos to stock photo sites is another way to generate the much needed extra income. It is a very easy and simple process a long as you can hold your camera steady enough to take a shot, but there are some things that you should know to help you make the good returns.

1. Register with as many stock photo sites as possible because the more sites you are selling digital photos to the more money you will make (it is a numbers game)

2. Ensure that for every single site you decide to register and submit your photo, you read through their terms of service and also the payment terms. Different sites obviously have different rates of payment and different requirements in terms of what you can and can not submit to their site.

3. Never submit photos of people unless you have their permission to do so, as they can and have the right to sue you.

4. Because I mentioned it is a numbers game does not necessary mean you should upload just any photo. Submit your best works or what you consider to be good enough (use your judgment). Remember someone has to like your work enough to use it.

5. Submitting your photo to the right category is very important. If in doubt as to how to group your photo, you are better of asking than just dumping your photo anywhere as it will either be rejected or go unnoticed (users browse mostly by category).

6. From personal experience I have done very well with photos that cover landscapes taken at different times of the year and different hours of the day (note however that this is my own personal experience)

Once you have applied all of the above properly, selling digital photos willbe a piece of cake and an ongoing process that will help generate you extra money. Be smart and creative with your photos even though you do not need to be a professional, but it will give your photo a high download rate which converts to you know what!

Travel photography is quite different from other photographic endeavors especially if you plan to make a living from it.

Most successful travel photographers are writers as well. Actually in the print world, you can't separate words from pictures. They complement each other.

What the picture can't show, the words explain in greater detail. So it's no surprise that some travel articles are sometimes from husband and wife teams.

That's the perfect job for couples. Think exotic locations, the love of your life with you and endless adventures together.

My biggest problem with travel photography is that a lot of the imagery you see have been so photographed that they're the equivalent of visual clichs. What comes to mind when you think of China? Great Wall of China, or the Forbidden City in Beijing? Egypt? The Great Pyramids. India... the Taj Mahal. Indonesia...Borobodur. Cambodia...Angkor Wat.

As in most printed media, the pictures tend to be more important than the words. A visually striking image will draw a casual browser of publication into reading an article even if the headline is not well-written.

A great selection of pictures of one destination can save a article with mediocre writing. But the same can't be said if the pictures are of poor quality.

No matter how good and compelling the writing, if the pictures are just mediocre, readers will not be drawn to the story.

Poorly composed images, especially ones with lots of technical flaws like low resolution, artifacting and digital noise cannot be rescued. As powerful as Photoshop is, it simply can't fix or add something that isn't in a picture.

Even if it can, there is the ethical question of are you allowed to? Most magazine have strict guidelines against such manipulation of images especially in their editorial content.

But poorly written articles can be "massaged" and fine-tuned by editors into some quite readable.

Tips for a successful trip:

1. Careful planning and research of your destination.

Obvious yet a lot of people don't consider this when making their plans. Festivities like Oktoberfest in Germany, Tournament of Roses in Pasadena, California takes place annually at the same time.

And by planning I don't just mean planning for the length of time you are going to be at your destination. If you're a digital photographer, you'll need power to charge your batteries and a way to download and clear off your memory cards or you will be up the proverbial creek without a paddle.

If you're headed abroad where electrical power is different from home, you'll also a voltage converter. I recommend the Kensington 3317 International All-in-one Travel Plug Adapter.

2. Precise note-taking.

Whether you use a laptop or pen and paper, having good habits like keeping receipts and other bills incurred during the trip is important.

Even if you're not writing the article, precise notes on how to get from town A to town B, how much the fare was, the duration of the drive are all details which add value to your pitch to magazines or collaborative effort with a writer.

Remember your recall will not be so good once you're home. Foreign names have a way of sounding the same when you get home, so good note-taking is critical.

Your article will have more credibility if you provide details since a travel article is part "how-to" and part narrative. Another reason for those notes is documentation when you claim the trip as a business expense.

3. Digital SLR with wide and telephoto zoom lens

Think "light." If you're lugging around a lot of gear, you'll be too beat to use your camera. Traveling light doesn't mean you leave essentials like a healthy supply of extra memory cards, batteries and flash units at home.

If you're bringing along a laptop, then a supply of writable CDs or DVDs is important.

Even if you don't have a chance to edit your images after you download them to your computer, you should burn those images as a backup and mail them to yourself.

That way if all your gear is stolen, you'll still have images to show when you get home.

Canon LA-DC58J Conversion Lens for A650IS Digital Cameras

conversion Lens required for use with WCDC58B or TCDC58C
Customer Review: Canon LA-DC58J Adapter for A650IS
$25 is a lot for a piece of plastic. If you don't already have filters it will cost much more than $25. It seems well made but you must exercise care when screwing a metal filter into the adapter, the threads are plastic. With a filter attached there can be slight cropping of the corners at the wide end. Being plastic it adds little weight to the camera, but does increase the bulk. The adapter does partially block the viewfinder, but I find the screen is bright and detailed enough for most conditions. The A650IS is a relatively large, slow point and shoot camera that excels at taking pictures in adequate light (ISO 200 or lower). This adapter (and filters) make the camera more flexible and adaptable to conditions. The bottom line is I can take much better pictures using this adapter (and filters) and still have a compact camera that weighs just over a pound.
Customer Review: Conversion adapter and tele for A650
The backordered adapter took over a month to get. I ran out of patience with Amazon and final bought one from another online retailer. The plastic adapter fits okay, but there is minor slop in the fit. The tele is large, heavy and vignettes the image until the lens is zoomed to near the maximum. The images are very sharp at this point, add a bit of digital zoom and still get a decent image at 24X. It's useful for specialty shots but I'd recommend if you primarily want long zoom, get a digital camera with an integrated 18X zoom.

Canon PSC-1000 Deluxe Burgundy Leather Case for the Canon SD1000 Digital Camera

This specially designed burgundy leather case stylishly protects your Canon PowerShot SD1000 digital camera while on the go, letting you take it pretty much everywhere. It's perfect for traveling, or for storing your camera in a dust-free manner. The burgundy case measures 2.5 by 4 by 1 inches (W x H x D) and weighs 0.5 pounds.
Customer Review: Great product, as advertised
This product does exactly what it says it will do: holds your camera. If you want a place to put extra batteries, memory cards, etc., then this is not the case for you. But, if you want the smallest possible case, doing a good job of protecting the camera but not taking up too much space, then you ought to buy it. I don't think the case could get any smaller and still hold the camera. I think they have enlarged the hole for the strap since earlier reviews, however, since I had no problem using the strap hole without any "enlargements."
Customer Review: Great looking case to protect that Canon digital camera
This is my second case (lost the first one). I'd consider this a "must have" item for your Canon digital ELPH camera.

You have most likely heard of Glyconutrients, they are the eight essential sugars considered necessary for good health and longevity.

Glyconutrients first came on the market about 1997, they were only available through Multi Level Marketing (MLM) they were very good, many people all over the world benefited from them with health improvements.

The only problem with them were, they were very expensive, and through MLM, and they still are, the prices have continued to increase, and I have actually heard people say, "I would rather be ill than pay that amount".

Now in the last couple of years, a new source of Glyconutrients have been discovered and this is called "CoffeeBerry".

CoffeeBerry is an extract from the fruit of the Coffee Tree, which looks like a bright red cherry, in the center of this fruit is the Coffee Bean, this has always been the reason for growing the trees, to produce coffee for the world by roasting and toasting this bean to make the millions of cups of Coffee that is consumed in the world each minute of every day.

Until a couple of years ago, growers threw away the fruit after harvesting the bean, because it decayed very quickly, and to be honest, they had no idea what it could be used for anyway.

Many plants contain nutrients in the fruit and the seed. In this instance CoffeeBerry, has a very high concentration of powerful antioxidants, called Polyphenols, they are a great help in scavaging for free radicals in the system. Free radicals are often found to be the main cause of cancer and aging of the body and skin.

There are plenty of other antioxidants and polyphenols available, but CoffeeBerry has more concentrated amounts and benefits than the others.

Rich in phenolic acid. The antioxidants in CoffeeBerry are from polyphenols or phenolic acids, natural plant antioxidants abundant in CoffeeBerry.

We all know that carbohydrates provide the 'fuel' that we use to run our bodies. Until recently, it was thought energy creation was the only role that carbohydrates played in our body. During the last few years, however, emerging science has suggested that eight carbohydrates, Mannose, Galactose, Fucose, Xylose, Glucose, Sialic acid, N-Acetylglucosamine, and N-Acetylgalactosamine, are essential to life because they are the basic building blocks of all biological communication.
Scientists believe that this family of eight mono-saccharides is essential in order for our immune systems to function properly.

At this point in time, CoffeeBerry is available at quite a low cost, because it has always been considered a waste product, however, there is more interest in it than ever, because it was noticed that the pickers of the CoffeeBerry had very young and youthful looking skin on their hands, researchers found that it was related to the fruit being on their hands, every day.

Now companies are producing skin care and antiaging creams using this same fruit as one of the ingredients.

CoffeeBerry releases unusually high levels of mannose, galactose, fucose, xylose, arabinose and glucose during digestion. For everyone interested in glyconutrition, CoffeeBerry provides an exciting new answer!

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Center for Aging at Tufts University measured the Oxygen Radical Absorbent Capacity (ORAC) of more than 40 fruits and vegetables.

Compared to their measurements, a 1 gram serving of CoffeeBerry Extract provides the same anti-free radical power as 625 grams of fresh blueberries, 974 grams of strawberries, 1230 grams of raspberries or 2030 grams of grapes!

Glyconutrients are considered to have properties essential to good health and your immune system, they are at the forefront of good health and CoffeeBerry would have to be the leader for the concentrated benefits available.

For more detailed advice, please visit my web site.

Canon EH-18L Semi-Hard Case for the EOS Digital Rebel XT/XTi Camera

Semi-hard camera case / For Canon Digital Rebel XT with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 attached / Convenient access to controls and LCD panel
Customer Review: semi hard case review
This item is a must have for anyone who owns a camera. There is no need for worrying about it getting banged up as long as you keep your camera in this really neat carrying case. It really protects your camera from accidental damage. I have one and I love it
Customer Review: NOT for CANON XTI
This case is useless for Canon XTI. I don't know why camera makers don't make cases for the camera they sell. (XTI won't fit in with or without lens and if you try to push too hard may damage the LCD screen or flash)

Digital cameras are one of the hottest selling products in the market, and it is not surprising, since they elevate the concept of photography to a new dimension. With digital cameras, the quality of the picture is much improved and one can easily take out the photos, without waiting them to be developed. With so many brands offering digital cameras in the market, Minolta digital cameras are considered to be one of the best quality digital cameras.

Minolta, a Japanese company came into existence in the year 1928 in Osaka. In the year 1962, the company officially became known as Minolta. Minolta Digital cameras were designed mainly for professional photography. Its DiMage line of cameras was created not only as an avenue for advancement in the digital camera market, but also as a way for professional photographer to buy a camera from a trusted company. These cameras were easy to operate, since the user would not have to deal with the complications of interchangeable lens. Minolta cameras were sophisticated in design, but easy to use like the digital cameras of today.

Minolta introduced first customer-oriented 5 mega pixel camera in the market, when other manufacturers were introducing 4-megapixels model. Minolta range of digital cameras offers an ultrahigh resolution CCD sensor that delivers excellent image for large prints. A high performance zoom lens ensures maximum flexibility while composing the shots. This camera also has an electronic magnification feature, at the push of a button; the center of the image is blown up to 4x original size in the view finder so that one can check the fine details and ensure that the image is in focus before snapping the shutter. Minolta ranges of digital cameras are fast, produces photo's of a good quality and the manual settings are too good. The battery is good and provides enough power for long run. It also has the features of various shooting modes such as underwater, foliage, indoor, portrait and automatic.

Minolta digital cameras are no longer manufactured but they are still available in the market for purchase. Due to this, the cost of the camera is likely to be high, since no more cameras are being manufactured. Despite of their high cost, they are totally effective. With any model of Minolta digital cameras you can be sure that you are getting excellent combination of quality and durability.

Porter's is your one-stop shop for all Minolta Digital Camera including film and cheap digital cameras, media cards, flash and lighting, filters, lenses, and all equipment. We also carry that hard to find Canon Battery Pack as well as film equipment.

Have a look into a new world through the digital cameras.

Binoculars are not just meant for bird watching anymore. They can do a lot more than that. One can catch something in action from a distance and share it. Many binoculars have an inbuilt digital camera in them. These can store snaps internally which is generally 10 to 20 Mb. Have you seen the Hollywood blockbuster Triple X starring Ice Cube? If yes then you must have noticed the digital binoculars he uses every now and then.

That`s the magic of these digital camera binoculars. Once you know how to use them you would rarely keep them away from you. These have apertures and magnification just like the simple binoculars. Yet several manufactures provide magnification and apertures according to the needs of its buyers. Where aperture is considered I suggest bigger the aperture better the results. The only problem with simple binoculars is that you can't record or store what you see. But with the new form you can store memories and then transfer to the computer and then by the use of internet share it to the whole world on various blog sites. You can edit the images by cropping them, adjusting the resolution, color, etc. and have fun.

A variety of manufacturing brands models are available, some of them being so compact as to fit in your pockets. Most of these are designed technically to obtain precision in making a light weight, compact and powerful binocular. Barska, Bushnell, Celestron and Meade are some of the brands to include. Customer Review: Excellent Source Book
I found this book to be an excellent source guide for the XTi. When I have a question about my camera, this is usually the first place I turn to not the actual manual that came with the camera. Its unlikely that one would ever get a better recommendation than that. Every time the author is describing the camera or its functions, there was a wonderfully detailed image of the topic. I can now navigate around the camera menus and other setting with ease after reading through the this book. Its a great book for a begniner or someone entering digital SLR photography (like me).
Customer Review: Great book for beginner photographers
If you are a newcomer to the (digital) photography world and want to have some useful advice on how to master light, shade with your EOS-400 this is the book for you. Even though it doesn't replace the reading of the users' manual, this book explains thoroughly how to use this great camera to make great pictures. The book is fully illustrated, has "screen shots" of the actual menus and is a joy to read. Highly recommended material.

Ipods are a type of portable media player or method of listening to music that are made by the company Apple Inc. and first burst onto the electronic market on October 23, 2001. Ipods quickly became popular with the listening public because they are sleek, slim, easy to carry and can hold many songs. These portable media players must be plugged into a computer by way of a USB drive and from there songs are downloaded onto the interface.

As of the date January 2008, there have been over 141 million Ipods sold throughout the globe. The older model Ipods could play music and that is about all. The newer more sophisticated models can be used for a variety of learning lessons on language, math, art, literature, architecture and music.

The line up of Ipod products to date includes the Ipod classic, the video-capable Ipod nano, the touchscreen Ipod touch and the screen less Ipod shuffle. Math modeling is possible on the newer versions of Ipods and the Apple company is looking at ways to help those who are hearing impaired to enjoy this form of technology to the best of their ability. Some of the former products of the Ipod include the compact Ipod mini and the spin-off from that, the Ipod photo. The Ipod photo has since merged into the classic Ipod design.

Media is not stored the same way in all of the Ipod products. For example the classic versions of the Ipod store the information for the player on an internal hard drive while the Ipods that are smaller in size make use of flash memory. With the exception of the Ipod touch, these digital players for songs can also be used as a method of storing external data. The amount of storage each Ipod contain varies depending on which model you are talking about.

The software that is required to transfer music to the Ipod is Apple's iTunes. The iTunes store is home to a huge library of music that can be found by way of the Internet. This music is able to be played, burned as well as ripped from a compact disc. But Ipods do so much more than that. It is possible to transfer data such as photos, calendars, videos and games to the Ipods, depending on which models they are. Some are more capable of certain things than are others.

If you've been wondering what it means when you hear the term ultra compact digital camera then you're not alone. It can certainly get a bit confusing, discerning between the ultra compact and the compact. But there's definitely a difference, and the difference can be quite large.

The fact is that ultra compact cameras are exactly that...ULTRA COMPACT! Fortunately, these little cameras pack a powerful punch for their size, while maintaining an ease of use that's a force to be reckoned with. The ultra compact camera is basically perfect for the photographer who's constantly on the move, and wants to be able to simply point and shoot...and be able to have the confidence that the shots he or she grabs are going to be of high quality each and every time.

One amazing thing about these tiny little cameras is the performance that they offer. These are cameras that can easily fit into a shirt pocket, or purse, but at the same time can grab very good and high resolution shots. Most have a lot of menu options that actually help the photographer choose which is going to be the best menu option to grab the best shop possible.

In the digital camera world, the number of megapixels is often a chief determination of which camera to buy. You wouldn't think it, but the ultra compact digital cameras can very often have a very high megapixel count and take clear and detailed pictures. The range varies from three megapixels to up to eight or ten. Honestly, nowadays, you'll rarely find one offered with less than 5 or 6 megapixels. But with these cameras you'll get crisp, clear, and brilliantly colored photos that will amaze you.

A great many of the ultra compact cameras are outfitted with an incredible zoom and are capable of using this power to get in close on shots to get you right on top of the action. You'd probably be very surprised by how powerful a digital camera - the size of a playing card can be.

Since these are very portable and meant to be taken out and about and be ready to shoot in an instant, the response time is incredibly fast on most of the ultra compact digital cameras. Many come with the same processing technology that the regular compact cameras come with and therefore start up very quickly, and shoot at incredible speeds. If action is your thing, then you'll also be pleasantly surprised to find that many of the ultra compacts have a rapid fire response of 3 to 5 frames per second. This lets you get right in on the action and not miss a beat.

One of the luxuries of the ultra compact can be the very large LCD Screens used to frame the shot in, as well as review the photo after it's been taken. There are a few of these cameras that actually have a 3.5 inch LCD Screen which nearly covers the entire back of the camera itself. These LCD screens are exceptionally clear with a high resolution and allow you to see the photos even at terrible angles or in direct sunlight. Passing around a camera to view pictures when the entire back is the screen is pretty remarkable and you'll be glad that you're able to show it off like that.

Another surprising feature of these cameras can be the fact that you're able to actually record movie clips on them and get a very clear picture with it. These are movies with sound and you'll be very proud to send video clips of the kids off to grandmother, and most likely, she'll never guess it was from an ultra compact camera.

So now that you've gotten the answer to "what is an ultra compact digital camera", you can make a much more educated and logical buying decision.

Canon NB-6L Li-Ion Battery Pack for Canon SD770IS Digital Cameras

Marketing description is not available.
Customer Review: Works as well as the battery that came with the camera
...as it SHOULD, since both are Canon-branded. You've got to keep a spare, charged battery around. Murphy's law says that if you don't do so, you WILL miss your best photo ops. Don't mess with Murphy.
Customer Review: Works.
Functionally identical to the Canon PowerShot SD770IS stock battery. What else would you need to know??

The first thing your child's photographer should do is to meet you and your child in advance of your portrait session. They should meet you on a day before the actual session just to meet you and your child and discuss ideas to personalize your session. During this "design consultation," your photographer will get down on your child's level and get to know them so that on the day of the session, the photographer will not be a total stranger to your child, making the session go smoother and be much more successful. Your photographer should do this design consultation at no extra charge to you.

The second thing your photographer must do is to do the session on location, instead of a boring studio, at no extra charge. This is so important to making your session successful. You should be able to choose a location that is special to you or your child, an environment that your child is comfortable in. This could be a local park or playground, or other favorite location, or even your own home. Being photographed on location is so much more fun for everyone involved, and the results are creative and unique images of your child.

The third thing your photographer should do is to be flexible. As a parent, you know that for some reason, a perfectly healthy child can (and often does) become ill on important occasions, such as Christmas Day, their birthday, or the day you have scheduled for their portrait session. Your photographer should understand this and allow you to reschedule the session at no extra charge. This goes for any other unforeseen problems that may come up.

The last, and most crucial, thing you should make sure your photographer does is to guarantee you will love your portraits. Many photographers say that satisfaction is guaranteed", but this is not good enough. If your photographer cannot guarantee that you will be thrilled with your portraits, or your money back, it's time to move on and find another photographer. A portrait of your child should be something that moves you every time you look at it, not something that you are just "satisfied" with. It is so important that your photographer has such a strong guarantee.

If your photographer does not do all of the above things, move on to another one and don't stop looking until you find one that does. The kind of photographer I have described is one who truly cares about you and your child as people and about giving you the highest quality photographs to preserve for you the precious years of childhood.

As you have seen, price is not the only thing to consider when choosing the best photographer for your child. Think of photographs of your child as investments, as you would when buying a house, or as important a decision as choosing the best doctor when you need surgery. While those photographs won't bring you financial gains later on, if they were created by a photographer who does the things I discussed above, you will reap priceless rewards of the heart for years to come.

Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DC Lens for Canon Digital SLR Cameras

Marketing description is not available.
Customer Review: Great All Around General Purpose Lens
This lens provides adequate telephoto and a nice wide angle in one package. I've used it on both the Canon XT and XSi and it works great. It is the one lens I just leave on.
Customer Review: An OK lens for the price; autofocus is hit and miss - and noisy.
I received one of these for Christmas...so I've had it for 6 months now. I've taken thousands of shots with it, on both a Canon Digital Rebel XT (350d) and a Canon EOS 20d. The bottom line...I like the lens - but the focus is not that great. Abour 35% of your shots are blurry due to inaccurate auto-focus. Specifics... 1) At 200MM (Max telephoto), you will see some blur if you don't use a high shutter speed and hold it steady. This means that just placing your camera on the green "point and shoot" mode, or even "P" mode may not give you a fast enough shutter speed to keep from having blur unless you are in bright daylight. So....here's my technique: at 200MM you may want to bump up your ISO (film) speed to 400 or 800, then use Tv mode (Canon settings I'm talking about - manual shutter speed control) to get a fast shutter speed. I also hold the end of the lens (the petal filter) with my left hand and lean against a solid object or have a good foot stance - or use a tripod. All of this is not any sort of lens defect; rather, it is typical of using a long tele lens that does not have Image Stabilization (IS). You can get IS from Canon, but be ready to lay down some $$$ and carry multiple lenses...more on that later. 2) Noisy autofocus. Yeah, true, it is louder than other lenses, but so what. It is not any louder than the fake autowinder sound my Rebel XT makes. I find its focus quick and only sometimes accurate - except in low light. Although, I will say my 20d does much better than my 350d did with this lens in low light. But, honestly, I don't think the low light autofocus is any worse than the Canon 18-55 kit lens I initially ised. It hunted a lot too in low light, and often would not lock - necessitating manual focus. The manual focus on the Sigma works great in low light, or, to keep autofocus, you can use an external flash for IR focus assist and it locks right up - but it is not always accurate. Other than the Tamron, you WILL NOT find as versatile a lens as this one, especially at this price point. Optical quality is great on my lens. You can do better - but with two lenses. My solution to have this kind of range if $$$ was no object would be the Canon EF-S 17-85MM f4-5.6 IS USM and the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 DO IS USM...this would add image stabilization and 100MMs more range, but at much more cost, and you would have to carry two lenses. I specifically bought this lens to have a compact, one lens solution. If you read all the reviews you can find, the general consensus is that the Sigma is better than the Tamron 18-200. Plus, the end barrel does not rotate, so you can use a circular polarizer. Show me a lens that has better bang for the buck in a one lens solution, and I'll buy it. Update: I got sick of the blur with the Sigma. The focus is just not reliable enough. I bit the bullet and bought a Canon 28-70 F2.8L USM. Yeah, it is moe than double the cost of this lens and it is huge and weighs a ton, but the quality of the image is unbelievable.

The continuing advances in digital photography make it possible for everyone to capture moments of their lives with more detail and accuracy than ever. Improvements in photo resolution and shutter speed make it easy for both professional photographers and beginners to take great pictures. And even if a photo is not perfect when it is taken, sophisticated editing software can transform it into a work of art.

Experienced photographers say that timing is the most important factor for getting a good picture. There is only a small, limited opportunity to capture a great shot. Whether you are trying to get the perfect sunset photo or get a picture of the winners as they cross the finish line, you must have a good sense of timing and the intuition that lets you know exactly when to press that shutter button. It is this factor that makes photography an art form.

Most people never quite realize the dream of getting a perfect shot. Maybe your picture is framed well, but the lighting is not quite right. Maybe youve got the lighting just right, but you forget to use the flash or red-eye reduction option. In cases like these, digital photography offers an excellent way to get just the look you want in a photo.

Any picture you take with a digital camera can be edited to reach its full potential. Digital photos can be automatically enhanced to improve their color; they can be zoomed or cropped to their optimal size. And, of course, the red-eye reduction capability can improve any portrait. These editing options can all be completed within minutes, giving you the chance to have the most wonderful photos youve ever taken.

With a good digital camera and photo editing software, you can accomplish great things. The capabilities built into your camera represent only the beginning of the editing potential. Software programs really help you make the most of the photos you have. You can use editing software to change the images in any way you desire.

Local or online retailers can provide you with the equipment, software, and information you need to take great digital photos. When selecting a digital camera, you should be sure you buy one that has the features you need and want. You should look for a model that gives great pictures and that also has simple docking methods for downloading the photos from the camera to the printer or computer. Good photo editing software that will let you alter your digital pictures includes products like Kodak Picture, and Corel Photo Album.

Customer Review: Conversion Lens adapter for Canon Powershot A640
I think the real problem will come if you change constantly the lenses for the camera. I hope i explain well it: i feel this adapter as weak (the camera is for amateur photographers), the adapter is small and has an screw to connect each lens.
Customer Review: Not Worth It
I thought a lens attachment for my camera would really help, but the lenses offered aren't that great. I don't think it's worth the money for this plus any additional lenses.

Introduction to the Canon Digital Rebel / 300D

This training video is organized into easily accessed chapters and there are hundreds of photographic examples. Topics include: · Making sense of the controls · Controlling exposure settings · Automatic settings · White balance · Auto Focus points · RAW files · Using the Creative Zone · Software tools, PS Elements · Time Value setting · Composition · Aperture Value · Printing your favorite photos · ISO · Depth of field preview button, And much more

You've just taken the photo of a lifetime with your digital camera.

It has perfect light, a great composition, and the photography muse was clearly smiling upon you when you took the shot.

You send it off to the printers, and what you get back is terribly disappointing.

A quarter of your image is gone!

The brilliant composition that you so carefully crafted when you took the photo doesn't have the same impact as the image you see on your computer.

What in the world happened?

Aspect Ratio

Welcome to the world of aspect ratio.

It sounds mathematical, but it is easy to understand once the following four points makes sense:

  • A standard 4x6 print has an aspect ratio of 2:3 (4x6 divided by 2)
  • A single film negative also has an aspect ratio of 2:3
  • Some digital camera sensors do not have an aspect ratio of 2:3
  • Aspect ratios are usually written with the long side first (3:2)

Remember when you used to get your film photos developed into 4x6 prints?

The photo that you took was the photo you got in the print. Since the aspect ratio of film is the same as a 4x6 print, no cropping takes place.

But the aspect ratio of your digital camera might be 4:3 (a common alternative to the 3:2 ratio).

Here's the key point: every photo that you take with a 4:3 digital camera will get cropped when you make a standard 4x6 print. Since the aspect ratios aren't equivalent, some of your image is lost.

Larger Print Sizes

People who own digital cameras with 3:2 sensors might be feeling pretty smug right about now. But even you are not immune to the effects of aspect ratio.

Let's say that you take your 3:2 image and make a 5x7 or 8x10 inch print. Do you think you see the problem here? 3:2 is not equivalent to 7:5, nor is it equivalent to 5:4 (8x10 divided by 2).

Every 3:2 photo that you print at 5x7 or 8x10 will get cropped - you're now in the same boat as all of those 4:3 people trying to make 4x6 prints.

True, this problem is not the same as the previous one. You're far more likely to make 4x6 prints than 5x7 or 8x10. If the 4x6 prints remain intact and only the larger sizes get cropped then 90% of the prints you make will turn out fine.

Your Options

If you are buying a new digital camera, find out beforehand what the aspect ratio of the sensor is.

  • If you want to make a lot of 4x6 prints, get a camera with a 3:2 sensor
  • If you enjoy making larger size prints, it won't matter what the sensor's aspect ratio is - both 3:2 and 4:3 will get cropped in some way
  • If you never want to print your photos, then the 4:3 ratio is actually more convenient since 4:3 is the same aspect ratio as your monitor - this makes it easy to use your photos for desktop backgrounds

If you already own a digital camera, there's not too much you can do about print cropping - it will happen one way or another.

The only way to control it is to do the cropping yourself. In every photo that you take, leave additional space around the borders of the image.

Use your favorite image editing program and set your cropping tool to the aspect ratio of the print that you want to make (3:2 for 4x6, 7:5 for 5x7 and 5:4 for 8x10). When you crop the photo for the appropriate print size, you are in control of the parts of the image that get lost.

This way you won't get any nasty surprises when you get the prints back from your most recent tropical vacation.

I bought two equivalent batteries, as backups and they worked well... for a short while, after a few months of usage I could not get more than 20 pictures out of a battery even without using flash. What a waste of money, but mostly time and pictures They don't hold the charge for a long time and don't last. My original canon 2 years old now still works flawlessly

Learning how to expose a photo properly is NOT hard at all. It is probably one of the easiest things to learn in photography. If you think so, this article will show you that it isn't hard at all.

There are many different modes that you can expose in. The first mode is...

Shutter Priority Mode
This mode lets you control how long light is let into your camera. The aperture is then automatically adjusted to this length of light let in. This is the best option when you want to avoid blur or are in certain settings. For example, in very bright settings you want to use a shutter that is fast. Whereas a dark area would require a longer exposure for the light.

Aperture Priority Mode
This mode lets you control the amount of light that is let in through the iris of the camera. A larger iris means more light will be let in. This is good for scenes without much light like the shade or indoors. A small aperture is good for bright settings or scenes that you want lots of depth focused.
In this mode, the shutter is automatically adjusted to the aperture to properly expose the shot.

Manual
The manual mode is more complex. You must properly expose the shutter and the aperture. You need a light meter to do this properly. This is really not a mode to start using until you're more familiar with the settings.

This is just a start to the way to expose your shots right. Your main objective is a clear, photo that is lit properly.

How to Get Paid to Use Your Digital Camera.

Would you like to get paid using your digital camera? Great news, you can get paid taking photos and you don't have to be a professional .

When I first watch an ad where you can make money just by uploading your digital photos I thought it was a scam, but i was wrong. More and more people are coming to realize that selling digital photos to stock photo sites is another way to generate the much needed extra income.

Besides, taking photos it's funny and easy: I love to take photos In my spare time and then create (and change different things with the photos) and some friends of mine do this to make some extra profits as they go about their daily job.

There are different alternatives to make money. One I like, pays up to $50 every time someone downloads one of your photos. You make money off of each item that you sell with no overhead costs.

Another interesting thing is that you don't have to be a professional to upload your photos: anyone having a regular camera can do it and you don't need to be an expert or own a website.

This is a way to use camera for fun and also make money with it.

As with any other business, there are scams to avoid + tips and tricks to make things easier.
If you can learn the basics and the secrets of this activity, you'll be avoiding common mistakes and getting better results.

That's why my first advice is: Research.

Quite a while back I read about a marketing strategy employed by Burger King that I think is pretty smart - and it would be worthwhile for all of us to follow suit.

It seems that they have this competitor - McDonalds - who is larger and has far more resources. In business, this is important. The more you have to work with, the better you are able to withstand temporary setbacks, swings in the economy, etc. PLUS you have more to spend in product research, finding prime locations and all that sort of thing.

"So what? " you ask. I'm a photographer, not a fast food maven.

Hang in there, it's coming.

BK, thinking that sooner or later the superior resources would do them in, started thinking of ways to get around the problem. One brilliant solution to a huge problem, uses their opponents strength against them!

A VERY important factor in the success or failure of a fast food restaurant, is location. (It's the same in most other retail businesses as well.) McDonalds has the resources to spend tens of thousands of dollars - maybe hundreds of thousands - hiring location scouts, realtors working solely for them, traffic studies, zoning studies and on and on.

I'm sure there are a million different factors in the selection of a great location.

Burger King either didn't have - or didn't want to spend - the money needed to find locations as good as the ones found by McDonalds.

What to do?

They let McDonalds find them!

After McDonalds spends all this money, the odds of it being a great location are about 100%, so Burger King adopted a strategy of watching McDonalds - and then opening a location within a block or so of them!

Customer Review: Nice step by step book
Great feature of this book is it lists each function in a step-by-step manner. I can learn this way and then extrapolate. If you are looking for more of a deep reference guide, this is probably not the book for you. If you are saying to yourself, "self - I wonder how I could do x with my Canon 30D", chances are this guide will have the step-by-step for most amateur photographers.
Customer Review: A PRETENTIOUS GUIDE THAT SKIMS OVER SOME IMPORTANT ESSENTIALS
THIS BOOK IS HEAVILY PADDED WITH SHALLOW, PRETENTIOUS ADVICE FOR DOING ARCHITECTURAL, CANDID, AND FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY, PHOTOJOURNALISM, ETC, BUT FAILS TO INCUDE USEFUL INFORMATION SUCH AS WHERE TO PLUG IN THE REMOTE. HALF OF THIS GUIDE COULD BE THROWN AWAY WITH NO LOSS.

Lately I've been getting more and more involved with water sports and would love to be able to take my digital camera out on the water. For one thing, I have way too many disposable underwater cameras with film I have yet to develop. Digitals are just so easy. However, it is not without some concern that I embark on this little search. I once bought an underwater camera that you could open up and replace the film, and despite all best efforts, I still ended up with water (and potentially spoiled film) in the case. Not only that, but I have some knowledge of dive watches, and have seen brand new watches spring leaks on their very first outings on the water.

So shopping carefully is a big concern. I basically have two options. I have to either shop for a casing for my camera, or buy a brand new underwater camera. Both options have their plus and minuses. Interestingly, the most important thing I read about underwater camera's came not from a guide to shopping for a case, but from someone else's review of a case that I was looking at: Get Flood Insurance. Why this does not seem to be made clearer, I don't know. The point being, that any number of things can cause a leak in the casing, such as a grain of trapped sand, or a faulty o-ring. No company warranties against this because it would just be too costly. Luckily, with a little research on the web, flood insurance for your camera shouldn't be too hard to find. Both DAN and DEPP (both of which are standard diver insurance) offer this coverage.

As far as the benefits of buying an underwater case versus an underwater camera, the obvious one is that you can use it out of the water too. While cases aren't exactly cheap, it is definitely cheaper than purchasing a whole new camera for underwater. And, as I said, I was even able to find a case that was actually made for my pocket-sized camera. Additionally, actual underwater camera systems can set you back a good several hundred dollars, depending on what you get. Both of these factors helped me decide that an underwater camera was out of my budget (for now).

I then decided to look at what were important features when choosing housing for my camera. Full controls are definitely important. If all you can do is point and click underwater, that's not going to be much help due to the lowlight environment. Another consideration is whether or not I'll be using an internal flash. The way light travels through water, you can take a picture 3 feet away, and yet the light is filtering through 9 feet of water (in layman's terms, light doesn't go as far in water), so the regular flash on a camera won't do a whole lot to illuminate. Getting closer to what you shoot and not going too deep will certainly help matters. I may have to look at getting a strobe, somewhere down the road though, for much better illumination.

Other things to think about include, what are you going to be doing with the pictures? Do you plan on upgrading later? If I do decide to get a strobe, I'll have to look at what strobes my housing can connect to. What kind of environments will I be using the camera in? If it's cold water, can it be operated while wearing gloves? Also, what do I want to shoot? Do I want to take macro shots of fish or just snapshots of your friends? These are a lot of things to consider before I make the plunge. But, keeping those questions in mind, I'm fairly sure that I can find a camera housing that will be something I'll use and won't break the bank.

Customer Review: Good summary of camera features!
This is a very good book for novice users of the Canon Digital XTi camera.
Customer Review: Not worth the money
I purchased his book on the 30D last year and thought it was ok so I figured I would get this one since I just bought the 40D. It's pretty much the same book as the 30D and he even uses some of the same photos!!! What a huge waste of my money. Not happy.

Pet photography is indeed a way for you to generate some income if you think your pets are cute enough, it is a hobby that you can transform into a booming home business. Lots of people pay a lot of money to have their pets photographed, but not only do you not need to pay anyone you can for fact make money from your pets photographs.

Stock photo sites are sites where you can submit your digital photograph by uploading them unto the site, and for each time the picture gets downloaded you get paid. A lot of people wonder who in the world will download pictures and pay for them, reality is a lot of people do some of which are, advertisers, designers, eBayers, scrap bookers and many more.

Taking pet photos can be a bit dodgy because it is often difficult to get the pet to stay still, but the beauty of it all is to just snap away as your pet jumps around and you are sure to catch some really nice shots that will stand out and attract a lot of attention. Also make sure to use some treats to get your pets attention as you take the photos and you are sure to catch some shots that will look really cute.

If you have animals with fierce personalities you can get a reasonably high download rate if you can catch some shots of your animals displaying some of its aggressive behaviors. But by all means when you do this apply a level of care and do not taunt your animal just to get it to behave in that manner.

After you have acquired your shots the next thing you need to do is to settle down and select the best shots to upload. It is important to use the best of the best otherwise you will be wasting your download space, and uploading many different pictures with different stock photo sites means you leverage off the internet properly.

Many people today are quietly making a living from stock photo sites because they realized early that many people can not afford the services of professional photographers, so would rather search through stock photo sites for pictures they need for their projects. You could be making easy money by taking your camera and going out for a walk in the woods and taking photos which you can also upload to stock photo sites.

The Logitech z-2300 is not the best speaker system on the market. No questions asked. But I would say you get a lot of money for the price. It produces great sound and for the average consumer, it will fit the bill

Firstly, it's thx certified which means that it has passed on of the highest test that speaker go through. This is a really good sign, especially for people who love music. Secondly the subwoofer is amazing. It can shake up the house, so be careful. You will also like how easy it is to set up. You just plug all the speakers in and turn them on. The other things I liked about the speakers are the style and software. It really has a nice style to it. That is very slick and fashionable. The software is easy to use, and great for people new to computers.

What I did not like about the Longitech z-2300 speakers was way speaker wires were connected. It is nice to be able to change them out and make them longer if I have too. I also think that the subwoofer was a little too big for my liking.

Overall it was worth money. These speakers cost around eight dollars, depending on where you go. They are not as good as a Bose Lifestyles, but they will do the trick for the average Joe. They are highly recommended by many websites, including Amazon. So if you are looking for a good sound system that will not break the bank, I would recommend the Longitech z-2300 speaker system.

If you are looking for a great deal on Cheap Longitech Z-2300 speakers, then check out my website. We have amazon and ebay listing, along with YouTube help you make a good buying decision.

Canon HF-DC1 High Power Flash for Canon Powershot Digital Cameras

High power flash for select Canon Powershot digital cameras / Compatible with the Canon Powershot A510 / Also compatible with other Canon Powershot models
Customer Review: Canon flash
I purchased this for my new Canon S3 IS. Worked great the first time I used it (as a bounce flash). I put it in my camera case, months later, I tried to use it again. Would not work (piece of junk). Amazon nor Canon will take it back.
Customer Review: Good for it's size
I have a Canon SD850 I use for work. I take a variety of indoor and outdoor pictures. The SD850's flash does lack somewhat after the 10-ft mark, but the HF-DC1 fills in very well to 20-ft or so. 25-30 ft is pushing it, but keep in mind that this unit is small (a bit larger than a miniDV tape case), so it does perform well for it's size. I've had some off-sync flashes and non-fires, but not enough to take away any points/stars. In AUTO mode, the HF-DC1 looks for the Canon's pre-flash and then fires in sync with camera's flash (NOT instead of), so it won't be saving your camera's battery life in typical flash photography, unless you can manually lower your camera's built-in flash intensity.

As a word, "macro" has many meanings but the one most commonly used by photographers describes a lens that produces life size images. That is, there is a 1 to 1 ratio between the size of the subject and the size of the image in the camera. Whilst that definition was useful for film cameras, it's not a great deal of help for digital ones. However, it should give you a good idea of what macro photography is all about.

A better definition of macro photography might be "extreme close-up photography". There is an even more extreme type of close-up photography called micro photography, but that involves taking pictures through a microscope of things that cannot be seen with the naked eye. Macro photographs is always of things that are perfectly visible, it just shows them in a way you have never seen before.

To take a close-up picture, you need to get close. To take an extreme close-up, you need to get extremely close and that is what the macro button lets you do. Normally, if you try to take a picture of something that is too close to the camera, you may get a warning that the camera can't focus or the camera might not even let you take the picture at all. If it does, the subject of your photograph will be out of focus. For most digital cameras, too close means anything less than 4 or 5 feet.

That is where the macro button comes in. When you press the button, it moves the pieces of glass around inside your lens and allows it to focus much closer than normal. In some cases this can be as close as a few inches. At this distance, even the most mundane object is totally transformed into something visually stunning.

Ever been stuck for a subject to photograph? Just switch on the macro function and explore the world that is right at your fingertips. The reason this works is that we just don't look that closely at anything, which is why macro photographs are always full of incredible surprises.

You take macro pictures exactly the same way as any other type and the camera's autofocus works the same way too, it just works at much closer distances. Always remember to switch off the macro when you have finished because, in macro mode, your lens cannot focus at normal distances. There should be an indication on your camera somewhere when the macro function is on.

Macro photography is no more difficult than any other type but there are a few things to bear in mind that will help you avoid the pitfalls that some people experience when trying this for the first time.

Shadows

Because you are very close to your subject, it's very easy for your shadow to be covering it. Unfortunately, some cameras only allow you to use macro at the widest angle of the lens. This means you have to be very close and it may take some careful positioning to make sure that your subject is not in shadow. If you can zoom in, it allows you to be slightly further away for the same size shot and thus reduces this problem.

Many cameras will not allow you to use the built in flash in macro mode. This is because usually the flash can't cover anything so close to the camera and, even if it could, the barrel of the lens would probably cast a shadow over your subject. Even an external flashgun fitted to the camera may have the same problem. You can take macro pictures with flash but for best results you either need off-camera flash or a specialised ring flash unit.

Depth of field

When your camera focuses on an object, depth of field is the distance in front and behind the object that is also in focus. In macro photography, this is a very small distance. You can see this for yourself by taking a macro shot looking along anything with a textured surface, for example, a carpet. You will see the part in the middle of the frame is in focus, but the areas nearer and further away will be soft and out of focus. If you took your shot looking down a ruler, you could actually measure this depth of field and see how small it really is.

This means that, unless your subject is very flat and you are looking square on, it is very likely that only part of your photograph will be in focus. When this is the case, it makes a tremendous difference to the final image depending on what part is in focus. The trouble is that it's quite difficult to focus exactly where you want to when the camera is hand held.

It is much easier to take macro photographs with the camera mounted on a tripod or with some other means of support. Unless the point you want to focus on is dead centre of frame, you will need to pan the camera until it is, half press the shutter 'till the focus "locks", frame up the shot you want then press the shutter button down the rest of the way.

If you are using a tripod or some other means of support and your subject is static, you could try to increase the depth of field by using a small aperture. You would use aperture priority mode and set the largest f/no. available. This will result in a very slow shutter speed. It could be several seconds. However, this doesn't matter if your camera has solid support.

Explore your world

If you have never used the macro button on your camera you are missing out on a whole world of photographic possibilities that you probably didn't even know existed. Just press the button and step through into the wonderful new world that is macro photography.
