Customer Review: It's great!
I upgraded to this camera from my older Powershot A510 (stolen). It's better in every way. MUCH faster, good battery life, awesome pictures, unbelievable zoom, and image stabilization (I got soooo many fuzzy pictures with the A510 -- not anymore!). It's definitely not compact (fills up my entire jeans pocket), but it takes infinitely better pictures than compact cameras. The software has also gotten much better, and you can finally play videos in ZoomBrowser. It's still not very good at extreme macro shots or low light conditions; but I'm not a pro photographer either, so I rarely mess with the settings. BTW, GREAT bang for the buck. Hope this helps you gather information!
Customer Review: Excellent Camera
For my first digital camera I wanted something that I could take pictures with on the fly as well as something with settings that I could play with. I know the basics about changing shutter speeds and other settings of that nature, but this is the first camera with which I've actually been able to manipulate to see what the effects are. Thus far I have been extremely satisfied with the results that I have seen in my images and am blown away with the clarity of a really good shot -which I seem to be able to get many of. As of 250+ shots, I am pleased.

The definition of photography is the art or process of producing images of objects on photosensitive surfaces. There is so much to photograph in the world. You can pretty much photograph anything. Everything is beautiful for what is is. A photographer can make something look different by using the right lighting, angles, and colors, basically just adding a certain glow to it that was not there before.

I would love to photograph. I love photographs of simple things, like a coffee cup in front of a window gazing out over some land, or a pair of high heels with pearls laying around them, but the picture is black and white. I also love photographs of people in black and white, especially of children. I want to learn more about photography and start photographing my son.

There is so much creativity that can be involved as well. You can take any picture and photoshop it. You can do whatever you like to it. Make it colorful, black and white, add a glow, change the eye color, change the tint of the skin, crop anything you don't want out, etc.. If you are a photographer you have an eye for good pictures. You could make a collage with photos you have taken, or take specific photos for a specific collage.

My best friend and I want to start a business on the side doing photography. We may not sell it or do anything with it at first. We definitely want to take photographs though. I wanted to take pictures of Reese (my son); pictures of his first steps, him just standing, looking out the window, smiling, laughing really hard (my favorite), sleeping, just waking up, rubbing his eyes, eating messy with food all over his face. FOOD FIGHT! Just kidding.

I would also like to photograph my boyfriend; maybe reading a magazine, making breakfast, napping, driving, eating a peach, wearing a cowboy hat, or just in a blank stare. I like unplanned pictures. They are always the best kind. My favorite though, I would have to say are the pictures when the person is laughing hysterically. Those are cute and in the perfect moment! Laughter is one of the most beautiful things in the world. I also want to photograph just objects like my keys, a drink from starbucks, a candy wrapper, my glasses laying on a desk, a coke can spilt, my fingers do the peace sign, just things like that.

As you can tell, there are many many things to photograph! Pretty much, anything! If you see beauty in everything, you would be a great photographer in my opinion! Every college has a photography class, and you can never know too much. These sites may also help..

Outdoor photographers in the 21st-century, we live in a world of uncertainties. I am writing this article to ensure you that there are many ways to lessen the hassles of traveling nowadays. Ever since the horrible disaster that America has faced with September 11, 2001, our security has been beefed up at our airports with professional federal employee, these young & mature men and women as I have personally observed are friendly and courtesy and do their job extremely well. I had never had any problems with these professional. Before I go on a photo trip I usually start planning well in advance within a year to six months before I depart, I do major researching on the Internet, as well as networking through the photographic organizations I belong to. I truly fine this valuable information to contact photographers who live in the area. I do 90% of my bookings online I find this to be the quickest and easiest way, after I have the hotel, car, and a home-based hotel. I do not book Airlines online due to the fact I do not want to be surprised, I preferred to have a fixed schedule 95% of the time I can book the airline at the same price from online. I'll also FedEx all of my photographic equipment and film, as with my film which is placed in x-ray bags I do not worry, besides, I take all my film an tape the box at the FedEx center. So if they want they can check the contents of the box. I have never had any problems with federal express, and if you follow the instructions that I am going to give you'll have no worries whatsoever. But I assure you my very expensive photographic equipment is safely delivered to the home-based hotel. I have read and seeing so many articles and suggestions on this topic. I just had to show you the best way and put it a nutshell. Granite the majority of the articles I have read are insulting your intelligence, its commonsense. Please Note: that these guidelines and suggestions are for domestic travel and if you're into outdoor photography, this will benefit you greatly. So here are my guidelines and suggestions to the outdoor photographer for the 21st-century with great success.

In the beginning:

. Intense research- (at least six months-a year)

. Networking- (within professional organizations)

. Budgeting- ($200 a month for six to 12 months)

In the beginning these are the three keys: intense research, networking, and budgeting. Researching which includes: Internet, mappings, literature, brochures, professional photographers, commerce, national wildlife refuge, travel agents, all of this takes time that is why I personally take the time at least six months to a year to research the area or areas of interest. Networking: if you belong to a well organization like the Photographic Society of America or North America Nature Photography Association or any other well-established organization you have the great benefit of your membership to network. By contacting photographers who are in the area that you desire to visit, besides I have personally met new and wonderful people who are like-minded by networking. Budgeting: now this is the tough part, I personally put $200.00 a month aside for photo travels for six to 12 months this gives me plenty of money to participate in activities I so desire, I do not stay in luxury hotels or rent luxury cars nor, do I have luxury meals. By all means I stay at hotels that are clean, and I usually try to get rooms with a refrigerator and I usually shop at local grocery stores, this way if I am in hot climate I can keep my film cool, and have some food also. If a refrigerator is not available I would use the air condition to keep at least the film cool, I usually buy salads, and slimfast, so refrigerator or an air condition does me find.

Part Two:

. Confirm- (confirm reservations)

. Photographic equipment- (cleaning, testing, packing)

. Locating drop-off center- (FedEx in my case)

. Reconfirm- (double checking)

. Clothes- (pack for ideal climate)

. Weather- (forecasting for the area)

. Paperwork- (any and all)

. Lab Bags- (transparencies and prints)

. Emergency /Meds- (first aid kit & prescription medications)

. Other equipment- (gsp, cell, two radio, cb hand held, laptop chains/locks)

Part two, and with these nine keys: confirm, photographic equipment, location for drop-off, Reconfirm, clothes, weather, paperwork, lab bags, emergency meds. Confirm: this is where you will call, hotel, airline, car rental, and hotel(s)-(home-based). Photographic equipment: this key could continuously be dragged on but I will put it all in a nutshell. First of all if you are going to use a carrier service like I do you're going to need to set up an account. I know that federal express is free to set up an account; if you do not have an account with a carrier service I strongly suggest you get one. So let's say you do have an account. What we need to do now is to have our shipping container and camera case and equipment ready to pack safely I bubble wrap each piece of equipment that is most fragile. Drop-off center: I also know were the drop-off center is from the home base, you can do I web search or call 800 numbers. Reconfirm: well this is commonsense do I really need to explain this one? But make sure you get a confirmation number from the hotel of where you will be staying for your photo adventure, placed this number somewhere on the shipping container, but only for the first hotel base. If you're going to be using multiple hotels you can transport the equipment in your rental car to the next hotel. Clothes: pack for ideal climate, forecast, watch the weather channel for your forecast, at least 2 weeks prior to your departure, this will give you an ideal of what to expect. Paperwork: make sure you have copies of any prescription medications you may need, also have any photographic lab paperwork, always have copies of your itinerary, and your state maps and or road atlas, plus your instruction manuals for your photographic equipment. I still prefer shoot transparencies I feel that Digital photography is more or less point and shoot. Remember back when you had them Polaroid cameras, well that's basically what Digital photography is. I still prefer to use my mind and skill and education. For the photographic lab bags, are consist of bubble bags and I use the bags to mail film from my home base hotel to the laboratory, I also carry an organizer that has all the photographic numbers and other important numbers I need, as well as other information, always be prepared. Emergency/meds: it's always good ideal to have a small first aid kit available specially when you're out in the field, and by all means use commonsense, always have your medical card, blood type, Social Security number, driver's license, any medications you are taking. Have it written down and placed somewhere on your person, you never know if you travel alone like I do, what happens if you're unconscious? Well, at least the medical emergency personnel will have some information. Other equipment: I use a GSP unit as well as a compass this help me stay on track and find my way back. I also use and have my cell phone, CB radio which gives me constant updates on weather, I also like to use a 7 foot chain with locks to secure the shipping case and camera case in the home base hotel.

At the airport hotel:

This is the first leg of the trip; I usually stay at the airport the day before departure. I truly believe that by staying at the airport hotel the night before is less stressful than rushing around the day of. The first things I do is check-in and ask for a wakeup call, approximately 4 a.m. I catch the early flights. I then catch the shuttle bus that will bring me to the departure gates of my chosen airline.

At the airport:

If you catch the earliest flight to your destination, which I always do. There are fewer passengers at these early times. The check-in counter usually opens about 5 a.m. at least the one I use, always check to be sure, the only thing I check in our my clothes bag which also contains my tripod and some other inexpensive equipment, per this writing transit authority now have locks you can purchase which they have the key too, this is usually a combination lock, this way if bags are in question the transit authority can open your bag without destroying it. My, carry on would include my laptop, cell phone, money, ticket, credit cards, and perhaps a book. As you're getting ready to go through security be prepared to have your ticket and driver's license out and ready, it is amazing to see people stumbling around to get their driver's license out. Also prepare to take off your shoes, I wear running pants and docksider easy to slip off, take everything out of your pockets put them in the plastic bowl, take out your laptop put that in a separate container and walk through the metal detector simple right? Wrong, if every passenger did this we would not have to stand in line very long just for commonsense. I would like to note to pack your tripod in you're checked luggage bag any non-fragile item w/clothes. I usually have the biggest duffel bag I can find. May your travels be a pleasant one.

Customer Review: Handy Guide
A great companion to the canon speedlight instruction book. It does not over the 580 EX II specifically, but there is plenty of information to give you the basics and then some if you are learning the Canon speedlight system for the first time.
Customer Review: Canon flash - moderately helpful/studio oriented
This video was moderately helpful to me. There seems to be a limited availability of instructional material out there on this product from what I was able to find so, some help is better than none. The video does focus on portait style photography. If you are interested in learning about how to shoot childrens parties, weddings or events, you will be disappointed in the very limited information on that subject. If you are interested in studio portraits and studio macro photography you will get some good information. This video left me wanting more specific instruction on the operation and application of the 580ex outside the studio setting. Overall, if you are willing to pay $20 for a few good nuggets, it's worth it.

Music has always been the universal language, and recently, it has developed into a universal means of entertainment. Everything from the PC to dedicated MP3 players and even mobile phones and PDAs are made with music-playing capabilities. For people who listen to music a lot, here are some nifty new gadgets.

1. Sennheiser MX 1 High End Wireless Buds - the MX W1 is the first wireless set of earphones to boast of high fidelity audio without the need for bulky and unnecessary docking stations. It is also advertised as 10X more efficient than bluetooth and weighs only ten grams, with an average of 12 hours of play for a single charge. This can be a great gadget for people who are tired of messy, tangled wires.

2. Chinavasion's Casette Mp3 Player -this nifty new mp3 player looks exactly like a cassette player, but has a 3.5mm headphone jack, a usb 2.0 and a car cigarette power adapter. The absence of internal memory means you need a 2GB SD or MMC card to put your music files in. It works as a standalone mp3 player or can be used like a normal cassette in any cassette player.

3. Maxwell's VRSP-4000 iPod docking station - the VRSP-4000 differs from other iPod docking stations because it makes your iPod look like a classic boombox while it is charging. The classy style is not all for show, though, since Maxwell's "bit-revolution technology" will enhance the sound and recover details lost during mp3 compression. The VRSP-4000 comes with two 18watts speaker and an FM tuner.

Canon Digital IXUS 200a Battery (Hi-Capacity Battery)

Canon Digital IXUS 200a Battery. This is a 3.7 Volt, 1000 mAh, Li-Ion Battery . Dimensions: 1.90 x 1.20 x 0.40. 100% OEM compatible.

It is "high" time for you to start looking into the Magnavox HDTV with its crystal clear picture that has clarity never seen before. Soon all TV stations will be only available in HDTV. It would be wise to start doing your homework on the various HDTV TV's on the market.

What is HDTV? Some of the HD technical information can seem confusing and unclear to us regular guys. High-definition television (HDTV) is a digital television broadcasting system with higher resolution than traditional television systems (SDTV) . HDTV is digitally broadcast digital television (DTV) that requires less bandwidth.

On February 17, 2009 the US intends to terminate all full-power analog broadcasting (some smaller local stations have later deadlines), with both standard definition TV (SDTV) and HDTV being allowed. This will require all new televisions to be manufactured with HDTV capability. There are adapters that can be purchased to trasform the analog set to HDTV.

The rise in popularity of large screen TV's has made the limitations of conventional Standard Definition TV (SDTV) more obvious and increased the need to purchase a Magnavox HDTV. An HDTV compatible television set will not improve the quality of analog channels. In fact it makes it even worse because of scaling artifacts. To receive the best picture display, high definition televisions require a High Definition (HD) signal.

Most cities in the US with major network stations broadcast over the air in HD. To receive this signal an HD tuner is required. The new Magnavox HDTV has an HD tuner built in. For HDTV televisions without a built in HD tuner, a separate set-top HD tuner box can be rented from a cable or satellite company or a Magnavox HD tuner box can be purchased.

HDTV broadcast systems are described in the following three ways:

1. The number of lines in the vertical display resolution.

2. The scanning system: Progressive Scanning (noted with a "p") or Interlaced Scanning (noted with an "I".) Progressive scanning simply draws a complete image frame (all the lines) per image. Interlaced scanning draws a partial image field (every second line) during a first pass, then fills in the remaining lines during a second pass.

3. The number of frames per second or fields per second.

A frame or field rate can also be specified without a resolution. For example 24p means 24 progressive scan frames per second, and 50i means 25 interlaced frames per second consisting of 50 interlaced fields per second.

We hope the above information was helpful and not too confusing. Do your research on the HDTV brands on the market and you will discover that the Magnavox HDTV would be your best choice if you want the best and most crystal clear HD picture.

Canon's A550 is an excellent camera with solid machine. Canon's A550 with 7.1-megapixel performs very well. It delivers solid images and excellent performance; this is the key of success for Canon A550. The Canon A550s zoom is longer comparatively standard zoom and the pictures can be shot once every 1.7 seconds. A550 comes with little small LCD, but still its strong enough to pleased users. The Canon A550s overall quality is superb. According to its features and functions it deserves to be best. It's not that small to slip into your jeans, but it can fit easily into most jacket pockets and bags. The A550's overall quality and performance make it a good choice. The colors of the photographs clicked (outdoor) in the day time give very natural feel. The buttons on the camera is comfortable to use, and it gives a generous grip in hands. Regarding looks the Canon A550 sometimes looks like a mini SLR camera. It's a true manual settings control, which let you adjust the setting of image.

Some of the user's complaint about camera is too slow; it's due to call shutter lag. It's basically between the time when the shutter button is pressed and when the camera actually snaps a picture. Also the involvement of flash, increase shutter lag happens more. It comes in L shape design, which is quite common in Canon's Powers hot, and same with its batteries. While clicking the pictures sharpness levels in Canon A550 remains the same, with well balanced colors. The A550 also has image adjustment settings, which also include a 30fps VGA (640x480) movie mode. It is a solid choice which captures pictures with plenty of details. The Canon A550 is not that easy to use, it's not difficult but if you want easy camera to use there are other options too. The A550 is a solid budget camera with good performance and pleasant photos. The PowerShot A550 is not the thinnest camera, but it feels comfortable in the hand.

Using digital zoom during videos gives pathetic results. So it's recommended not to use digital zoom while making videos. The Canon A550 is not that easy to use, it's not difficult but if you want easy camera to use there are other options too. With silver colour body, its dimensions are91.2 x 64.0 x 43.1mm and its weight is 160g. Some photos taken in indoor areas with automatic white balance gives yellow result, which is quite common in snapshot cameras. In bright light its glass viewfinder is very useful. At ISO 800 sensitivity, Images are predictably noisy. Mostly ISO 800 is for low-light and high-speed shooting. There is problem with larger LCD screen, its gets washed out when sun is on its peak. Video shooting gives decent result and its shoots at 30 frames per second.

The canon digital camera is the fulfillment of Canon's innovative thinking and vision that mixes the best of photography and video features like never before.

Opteka XL Remote Release Cord for Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT, XTi, XSi, XS, & ELAN SLR Cameras (10 Foot Cord)

The new Opteka XL remote releases from Opteka allows the camera to be released from a distance of 10 feet (120"). All electronic, just plug-in and use. Has a momentary release, as well as a locking position for time releases.
Customer Review: Looking forward to using it.
I have not had a chance to put this shutter release through its paces as it has been raining. The product arrived when they said it was going to.

As there are so many networking sites on the Internet nowadays, more and more people have accidentally developed a love for photography. May it be just for taking high-angled photographs of themselves or artsy shots that they took while on vacation, there are certainly a lot of people nowadays who are getting into photography.

And what about their weapon of choice? A kick-ass SLR Digital Camera of course!

It is no secret that photography equipment from tripods to the uber cool ring flash can really put a dent on one's wallet. Thankfully there are more affordable yet good-quality options available in the market today. Popular brands for photography equipment are Canon, Olympus, Pentax, Sony, and Nikon. While all these brands offer great-quality SLR Digital Cameras, most of them have been smart enough to produce different variations of the popular SLR Digital Camera that cater to the needs and wants of the most discerning professional photographer to the excited young novice.

For the most affordable and definitely value for money SLR Digital Cameras and kits, Nikon offers a great selection of SLR Digital Cameras which can be bought for less than $500. While you can probably score decent prices in camera shops, you might want to check out different stores, event online auction sites to make sure that what you are getting is the best deal in the city.

Other things that photography hobbyists should be shopping for are decent camera equipment like a nice tripod that is sturdy yet flexible enough to be used for different angles. However, do take note that photography equipment can definitely be very pricey, most especially the ring flash which creates beautiful effects on photos. It makes the subject prettier - and slimmer. If you want to score a more affordable deal for additional equipment to attach to your SLR Digital Camera, you can check out different places, especially photography shops and flea markets to try to see if you can able to score for yourself a good deal on second hand equipment.

There is definitely nothing wrong to get a second hand photography equipment as long as you know how to check out certain warning signs that an equipment is not in good condition. Another good idea is to seek professional photographers or photography studios to see if they are planning to discard any of their old equipment to make room for some new ones. However, while the shop owners would not just hand their old equipment to you, you can still probably score a great deal on their second hand equipment. If you ever feel doubtful about what you are going to buy, do not rush into any deals. Try to sleep on it for awhile or research the product on the Internet or just ask a knowledgeable person for some advice.

Since you are a photography hobbyist, then you must know a lot of other people who are used to handling photography equipment and SLR Digital Camera accessories, you will surely won't have a hard time getting your friends to help you out.

Opteka .45x High Definition² Wide Angle Lens for Canon PowerShot A570 A590 IS Digital Camera

Nothing changes the way you see the world like High Definition², and no company does High Definition² like Opteka. In the professional setting, Opteka's glass optics define High Definition. Change the way you view the world. Enjoy outstanding detail, enjoy enhanced clarity, enjoy Opteka. Since it fits right over your camera's existing lens system, a wide-angle converter affects the full zoom range of your camera's lens. A wide-angle converter increases your angle of view - scenes include more of the landscape, groups include more people, and interiors show more of the room. A .45x wide-angle converter DOUBLES your angle of view, allowing you to get twice as much in the picture (AND your telephoto setting also becomes wider; not zooming in as close).
Customer Review: Any camera that has changeable lenses...
If you are going to buy additional lenses to make the most of your camera don't expect to snap your fingers and have it be on there. Unfortunately the review from J.L. Carr does not even touch on the quality of the product. From what I have read about these Opteka lenses, they are very well received. I am going to order them tonight and after I try them out I will come back and give an honest report about the quality and performance of this lens kit. Maybe J.L. Carr should have realized this BEFORE ordering. I think dealing with something you are not prepared for is cumbersome. Don't base your decision on these lenses until you look a little further. I have seen great reviews on several sites about all the Opteka lenses. UPDATE***********08/20/2008 This lens rocks! Definitely worth every penny. Worth putting on for sure. Makes the pics even more vibrant! Opteka makes a fine, fine lens.
Customer Review: Awkward lens
This is not a good product. Even at $29.95, it is so cumbersone (you have to stop, take off the lens on the Canon 570, put an extension tube on, then the wide angle lens ring). What a joke!

Opteka Remote Release Cord for Canon EOS 5D 10D 20D 30D, 40D & 50D Digital Cameras --

Marketing description is not available.
Customer Review: It focuses, but doesn't shoot!
Waste of my time, I just got this item and hooked it up to my Canon EOS 30D. The button focuses, but does not shoot. I pressed down really hard and nothing happened. It is designed to hold the button down when using the BULB shutter (long exposures) but it's all useless if your can't fire the shutter! This is going back to where it came from!
Customer Review: You get what you pay for
I had my camera equipment stolen and read the reviews on the less expensive Opteka cable release and decided to save a few bucks on the replacement. I have now had 2 and they both have failed within the 1st ten shots. Extremely frustrating when you're in the field and cant't get the shots you have meticulously set up for the right moment. I am going back to the Canon version which worked perfectly for years. Remember, you get what you pay for.

Have you heard about the best new digital SLR camera to hit the streets? How about the worst? As the prices of digital SLR cameras have been plummeting like crazy, it's become more important then ever to be able to distinguish the best from the worst. Don't assume that a low price is indicative of a low quality SLR. It could just be the deal you've been looking for. Let's review a couple of worthy contenders in the ring of digital SLR cameras.

It's pretty hard to review digital SLR's without bringing up the Canon Rebel XTi digital SLR camera. The XTi, and it's predecessor the XT has been a solid value for anyone looking to make the move to SLR technology. A consistently strong seller with a solid base of existing users makes the Canon Rebel a worthy for best general purpose SLR camera ever.

With a current price under $600 including a lens kit, it will continue to be popular for some time. The latest model to share the Rebel crown, is the XSi, which is currently scheduled to be on the shelves mid 2008. It brings more megapixels, a better battery grip, a larger LCD, "live view", and a plethora of other new features to the Rebel lineup.

No digital SLR camera review would be complete, without the inclusion of the Nikon D40 digital SLR camera. An equally robust competitor with the Rebel lineup from Canon. For those making a purchase based purely on the Nikon brand name, there's no reason to look much further. The D40 is a great camera for those looking to make the leap from simple point and shoot cameras to the more sophisticated and versatile SLR world. The D40 still has numerous auto settings, so newbie users won't feel rushed up the learning curve of SLR with it's countless manual tweaking options.

Just for the sake of making sure three is a crowd, I would be remiss if I didn't mention the Olympus Evolt E510 digital SLR. Just a few dollars more, and perhaps not as well known as our previous models, the E510 makes a great third option to consider. While some users have had problems with the auto focus of the E510 under low lighting conditions, if your more of a manual focuser, then it's not a concern. Be sure to get your hands on each of these cameras for a test run, and you'll understand why their so popular.

SLR Digital Camera For Photography Hobbyists

Canon LA-DC58G Conversion Lens Adapter for the Canon A700, A710IS & A720IS Digital Cameras

This adapter is required for mounting the wide converter, tele-converter or close-up lens to the camera.
Customer Review: Canon Power Shot A729IS can do even more!
Canon has aways been a great product. Their converter allows you to do even more with your digital camara. Buy this first before investing in other lenses for your digital camera. you'll need it! It allows you to switch from one lens to an other. A must have first item!
Customer Review: Canon LA-DC58G Conversion Lens Adapter - Works AS Promised
A no fuss adapter... Easy to attach to my Canon and that's pretty much it. I look forward to using some of the filter lenses that I also purchased.

Where do you start? What make, what model, what lens...the list of options seems endless but mistakes at this level can be expensive unless you have an understanding Camera vendor nearby.

In my experience buying a camera is as simple as asking the right questions and reading the right reviews. Comparing apples with apples is also a difficult maneuver if you're not quite sure about the many different functions of a Professional Digital Camera. If you are at a level where you are now ready to make the leap from a regular point and shoot camera to something a little more sexy, then you could do worse than check out more recent ratings of camera manufacturers and models.

Of course you can go to the Nikon, Olympus or Canon corporate websites but you're not going to receive an unbiased view, what the internet needs is a more democratic way of selling professional digital cameras to the consumer.

The price of professional digital cameras ranges between $700 right up to $10,000 and above so making a mistake at this level could be disastrous unless you really know and understand your equipment. Spending more money on a luxury digital SLR rather than a basic model, generally means that there will be more features built into the camera, a higher degree of automation and settings to fine tune the digital experience.

There are other reasons why some professional digital cameras are more expensive than their counterparts and that is due to the reason that they are built from more hard-wearing materials in order to withstand the type of usage and rugged terrain that some professionals find themselves operating in.

The more advanced features of the digital SLR at the professional level will include, although are not restricted to:-

  • Autofocus - A key consideration in the purchasing decision, the reaction of the hardware and software in different lighting conditions and subject matter movement should be proven.

  • Exposure Modes - For determining the shutter speed and aperture used for each shot or whether the factors are split.

  • Autofocus Zoom Lens - Depending upon the model and lens that you select, most modern cameras take the hard work out of taking the perfect picture. Electronics can now bring the subject into focus much quicker than the human eye / hand co-ordination.

  • Clearly these are only a few of the considerations when choosing an upgrade to your current camera model, it is essential that you don't over purchase and over engineer what may be a hobby for you, some modern day compact cameras at the $250 - $400 bracket can deliver astonishing results, check out the alternatives before you take the plunge.

Imagine a site that offers unbiased advice and technical information which is voted up or down by the user / visitor, a facility that aggregates information and gives you a clear indication of the preferred direction of your investment. What a great idea!...

I purchased this product on the promise that the batteries for the Canon camera could be charged at home, overseas, or by the 12 volt accessory jack in most cars and trucks. Excellent performance. Compact, complete, and reliable. Thank you for a thoughtful combination.
Customer Review: Great addition to Canon SD 700 IS
I purchased this kit because I lost the original battery and charger during a recent trip. This kit was more than I expected and the second battery is a bonus. PS My original accessories were found a week after this replacement was received but I'm still happy to have the spares.

You can also see there the most popular cameras and lists of the best cameras around. But you don't have to go any further because we take care of the assignment for you.

Here are the top 3 most popular and coincidentally the best DSLRs out now.

Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi and XT

Fighting neck to neck at the top position are the brothers from Canon --- the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi and the the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT.

The newer Canon Digital Rebel Xti or EOS 400D seems to have the upper hand between this sibling rivalry. Released in August of 2006, this baby has 10.1 megapixel and 2.5 LCD screen. With this, you can take more shots in a row in burst mode with 27 frames in jpeg format per second compare to others with 14. It also has new dust reduction system that prevents dusts from settling on the image sensors. Another is the enhanced 9 point autofocus system as oppose to others' 7 point. All that for $509 - $569.

The Canon Digital Rebel XT (known as EOS 350D in other countries) is the older version of the EOS 400D. Only released in February 2005, the Rebel XT is still as dependable as ever. This camera has 10% more battery life than its newer version. Very compact in 5" x 3.7" x 2.6" and lightweight at less than two pounds.

With its 8 megapixel resolution, you will always shoot like a pro in Canon D350. It has fast shutter release and short blackout time. It also has continuous drive mode of 14 frames per second. This is retailed from $479 to $500.

    Nikon D80

Compare to Canon's 400D 10.1 megapixel, the Nikon D80 comes in the competition as dark horse with 10.2 megapixel and with same LCD display of 2.5". It has more autofocus system of 11-point compare to Canon 400D's 9. Also equipped with new Image Retouch menu that offers D-Lighting, redeye removal, cropping, and image overlay. Using EN-EL3e, you can take as many as 600 shots with a full battery. In the market for $1000 - $1050.

Minolta has always been the leader in producing lenses that are one of its own kinds. The minolta camera lenses have now gone beyond the imagination of the crowd. Recently, these people have come up with the exotic special purpose lens, which specializes in producing a transition between the in-focus and out-of-focus areas in the picture. The best feature in these lenses is its ability to reduce the distracting effects from the background without distorting the original image. These lenses also come at an excellent price range and are excellent in optical quality and range for daily use.

Moving on from lenses, we digress a little and jump on directly to the security cameras. The latest security system uses the board cameras. These are mini cameras that have lenses mounted on circuit boards. The small size of these cameras makes them simply apt for use in the security system applications. Sometimes they also use the pin hole lenses that are available in two categories - flat and conical lenses.

The conical lens is used when the security system camera is installed on the ceiling tiles and the flat lens is used when the security camera system uses a thin material such as clothing. Some of these board cameras also use the board lenses for better picture quality. Most of the board cameras operate with an AC adapter or at times using a battery for power supply. However, most of the brand manufacturers suggest the use of good quality adapters for your cameras.

Talking of camera systems, we just cannot afford to forget the canon camera systems. It is one of the leading producers of the most complete single lens reflex camera system in the world. They give you guaranteed products that can take you to a much higher level of photography. They use some exclusive technologies that are unmatched by any other camera manufacturer in the world.

Sometimes these cameras use the teleconverters for the conversion or rather extension of the focal lengths. One of the popular names in this field is the bower that boasts not only of teleconverters but are also leading manufactures of wide angle lenses. The bower lenses come with a high resolution, ultra wide angle and even macro fittings attached. Another important camera system is the telescopic camera system that is used for security as well as some industrial inspections. This system features a powerful monochrome camera and an illuminator mounted on a telescopic pole.

With all these varieties of cameras available, people generally do not prefer fixed lens cameras. Thus, manufacturers have come up with a better solution in the form of the varifocal lenses. As the name suggests, these lenses can be adjusted even after the purchase of the camera. In simple words, these lenses provide the facility of changing the focal length and consequently the magnification of the image.

There is one more historical name that needs to be added to the list and that is the cosina cameras and camera lenses. This company is also accredited with world's first all-push-button SLR cameras. Then, there is a latest product in the market by the name of Nikon's d2h camera, which is receiving rave reviews. It is much better in looks and performance than its predecessors D1H and D1.

Even after all these discussions, some of us are still not aware of many of the terminologies used in the field of camera and lenses. One good example is the 3x, which denotes the ratio of the camera's longest focal length to the shortest focal length. It, by no ways, means that two 3x cameras will have the same actual magnification.

    Canon ACK-600 AC Adapter for PowerShot A40, A75, A85, A95, A610, A620, A630, A640 & A650IS Digital Cameras

The optional CANON ACK600 AC Adapter Kit allows you to operate your camera continuously without worrying about battery failure - which, according to a corollary of Murphy's Law, always occurs at the worst possible moment. Use of the kit is recommended when you plan long sessions with the camera, and whenever you connect the camera to a computer
Customer Review: Way overpriced, recharge batteries instead
It's extremely unfortunate but I can't help looking at this as a predatory product. There's no good reason to make the camera require a proprietary design to begin with but then to charge this much money for it -- it's insulting. The quality is fine but for less than half the cost, you can buy a charger plus four AA batteries and recharge them galore. Heck, you could buy three more sets of perfectly good AA batteries and never ever run out of juice. I'm a Canon fan but enough is enough. The camera's Excellent, the lenses are Fair to Good, the AC adapter is a bad buy for the money.
Customer Review: Hahaha, very late review.... great working product.
Indeed, if you have a Canon Powershot you will need this AC device when you transfer pictures from camera to PC. I had mine for almost two years and it works.

Picture yourself out walking in the park with your new point and shoot camera. You are happily taking picture after picture of all of the beautiful flowers you find along the way. You can't wait to get home to enjoy all those excellent nature and flower pictures now on your camera.

You rush home and excitedly load the pictures onto your computer. Only the pictures just are not quite what you had pictured in your mind.

These wonderful new point and shoot digital cameras take care of everything for you. But sometimes the camera just can't seem to get it right.

This is when it is time to take control. Who knows you may find you like your own settings better.

Almost every new point and shoot camera has a setting where you can control the shutter speed and aperture (this is the F-stop). Some will give you a larger range of control than others. But with a little practice you will be shooting pictures like the Pros.

I can here you now. "I don't understand all that F-Stop talk." Believe me I know how you feel. I have asked my boyfriend about these same terms and his answers are always textbook photography class mumbo jumbo. The minute his lips start moving I start to feel my eyes glaze over. There seems to be some kind of block to receiving the information this way.

When I see that same information in print, it seems to finally click in. So here is a quick explanation to clear up some of the fog.

F-Stop is simply the range of light that your digital camera can record. You can adjust your F-Stop with your camera set on M for manual.

Every camera is different. Refer to your camera's instruction manual to see how yours operates. Just look for F-Stop to find the instructions quickly.

Go ahead. Play with your camera a little. Take a picture at the lowest F-stop setting. Then take the same picture at the highest setting. These settings will depend on your camera. For instance, my point and shoot camera is capable of settings from F2.7 to F8.

Notice that taking the picture at the lowest F-stop your picture is very light. Please note, the light in your room will affect your picture. If you have a dark room this can produce a decent picture. If your room is light the picture will be too bright.

Now try the opposite end of the spectrum. In my case I can take pictures with an f-stop setting as high as F8. Your camera may be different. Take the same picture so you can compare notes.

Notice how dark your second picture is compared to your first? Now if you combine your F-stop with an adjustment in the shutter speed you have a better chance at the perfect photograph.

Shutter speed is just what it sounds like. It tells you how long the shutter will be open when you take a shot. And the range is much greater than with the F-stop settings.

The Canon PowerShot IS6 for example ranges from 15" (longest time open) to 1/1600 (shortest time open). Translated that means the camera's shutter is open from 15 seconds (longest) to as little as 1/1600 of a second.

As you may guess the longer you have your shutter open the more light is able to come in. This means a higher exposure of the picture. Thus you have the term over exposed photograph.

Watch your LCD monitor while you are making the shutter speed adjustments. You can actually see the screen as it becomes lighter and darker. When the light looks good, this is the picture you want to take.

These two simple steps will give you a greater control over the outcome of your picture. You can be shooting like the professionals in no time at all!
